Spray foam insulation in Galveston and Texas City

The coast is a different insulation job. Raised homes with open or enclosed floors, salt and wind exposure, historic construction on the island, and refinery and port industry in Texas City all call for choices that a mainland attic never has to make.

Homes in Galveston and Texas City

What we see in Galveston and Texas City houses

Galveston's housing stock includes historic homes in the East End and Silk Stocking districts, midcentury homes on the west end and in the Denver Court area, and raised beach houses from Pirates Beach to Sea Isle. Raised homes lose most of their energy through the floor, and closed-cell foam under the floor deck is the right product: it insulates, air seals, resists moisture, and adds rigidity in wind. Historic homes get a conservative approach that respects the structure and the ventilation it was built with.

Texas City, La Marque and Hitchcock have 1950s through 90s homes on slab and pier and beam, many with minimal attic insulation. Roof deck conversions and floor insulation are both common. Everywhere on the coast we look at wind exposure, flood elevation and combustion appliances before proposing an assembly.

Local FAQ

Galveston and Texas City questions

What is the right insulation under a raised beach house?

Closed-cell foam sprayed to the underside of the floor deck, at a thickness that hits the code R-value and forms a continuous air and vapor barrier. It also stiffens the floor. We protect plumbing and electrical runs and photograph everything before it is covered.

Does salt air affect spray foam?

Cured foam is not affected by salt air, and it protects the metal it covers from condensation. Exposed foam still needs an ignition barrier or thermal barrier per code, which we include in the scope.
